The Worst Anime of Summer 2024

While Summer 2024 brought a host of captivating anime, not every series managed to impress. Here are the most disappointing anime titles, according to the editorial team, and why they didn’t live up to expectations.

Here is the revised and numbered list:

1. Tower of God: Return of the Prince

The animation and art style have seen a drastic drop in quality compared to the first season. The fight scenes lack fluidity, and the story feels rushed and underdeveloped. The emotional moments fail to land, making it a disappointing follow-up.

2. Failure Frame: I Became the Strongest and blahblahblah

This isekai fails to bring anything new to the table, with bland animation and a predictable storyline. The battles are simplistic and the plot revolves around cliched villains, making it a forgettable experience.

3. SHOSHIMIN: How to Become Ordinary
While trying to be profound, this anime’s glacial pacing and lack of impact leave viewers frustrated. The conversations drag on, and the storyline fails to deliver on its potential, leaving the audience bored.

4. My Deer Friend Nokotan
The most anticipated anime became a letdown due to its repetitive and stretched-out jokes. The translation issues in both the subbed and dubbed versions further hinder the show’s potential, making it fall short as a comedy.

5. Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World Season 2
Even with decent moments, the animation quality plummeted. The story lacks excitement, and the relationships feel superficial, leaving the season on a low note.

6. Narenare - Cheer for You!
What started as a promising drama about cheerleading falls flat with nonsensical plot developments and lackluster writing. The narrative fails to create any meaningful emotional engagement.

7. Suicide Squad ISEKAI
A combination of isekai and superhero tropes that disappoints by leaning too much into the fantasy world and not focusing enough on the chaotic nature of the Suicide Squad, leading to a lackluster plot.

8. Dahlia in Bloom
Despite an interesting setup, the story becomes monotonous with no real conflict or character development. The slow pacing and poor production quality make it a dull watch.

9. Quality Assurance in Another World
After a promising start, the anime’s quality dips due to inconsistent world-building and unengaging storytelling. Despite a likable cast, it becomes a mediocre MMO-style adventure.

These titles may have brought excitement during their pre-release phases, but ultimately, they failed to deliver, making them the least impressive anime of Summer 2024.
