Tensura Anime Announces Season 4 and Second Movie: What to Expect

The fan-favorite anime That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (Tensura) is officially returning with its highly anticipated Season 4 and a second movie, as revealed right after the Season 3 finale. Fans can now gear up for more exciting adventures in the world of Rimuru. Check out the official announcement trailer below!

Following the success of Season 3, which was directed by Atsushi Nakayama with series composition by Kazuyuki Fudeyasu and character designs by Ryouma Ebata, the creative team is set to return for more. Chief animation directors Tomoko Ito, Keiya Nakano, Hideki Sakai, and Yuuichi Tanaka were crucial in bringing the vibrant world of Tensura to life, while the captivating music was composed by Elements Garden.

At this year’s Anime Expo, we had the opportunity to sit down with Riichiro Umetsu, editor of the Tensura manga and light novel, and Shinichiro Narita, the anime’s producer. They shared insights into how they discovered the series, their initial impressions, and the strategies behind maintaining the anime's success across different media platforms.

Tensura’s Journey So Far:

The Tensura light novel series, penned by Fuse and illustrated by Mitz Vah, has been a massive hit, leading to the anime adaptation produced by Studio 8bit. The first season aired from October 2018 to March 2019, with the second season split into two parts airing in Winter and Summer 2021. The third season, which started in April 2024, wrapped up with Episode 24 on September 27, 2024. The anime is available for streaming on Crunchyroll.

Plot Overview:

The story centers around Rimuru, once a corporate worker named Mikami Satoru who is reincarnated into another world as a slime. Despite his unassuming new form, Rimuru gains powerful abilities, allowing him to establish a new nation for monsters and pursue peace. However, many see him as a threat, and Rimuru must protect his friends and allies from enemies, no matter which world they come from.
