Anna Delvey’s Emotional Struggle After ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Premiere: Partner Ezra Sosa Speaks Out

Anna Delvey’s journey on “Dancing With the Stars” has not been without its challenges, particularly following backlash over her participation in the show. Her dance partner, Ezra Sosa, recently shared insights into Delvey’s emotional struggles during a TikTok video.

Sosa expressed gratitude for the positive responses he received after their debut but noted that Delvey did not share the same experience. He revealed, “While I felt a lot of positivity, my partner wasn’t receiving the same support.”

He described a particularly difficult moment following their press appearances when Delvey read negative comments online. “After our press line, she was reading the comments and then we couldn’t find her,” Sosa recounted, visibly emotional. “They finally found her in the bathroom, and she was crying.”

Sosa emphasized that this was a side of Delvey he had never witnessed before, and it “broke [his] heart” to see her in such distress. He expressed his desire to provide her with a supportive experience, stating, “Knowing that’s not the case really did break my heart.”

Despite acknowledging the controversy surrounding Delvey—who is known for posing as a fake heiress and defrauding wealthy individuals—Sosa asked fans to reconsider their opinions about her. “What she did was controversial and not right, but this person I’m getting to know during rehearsals isn’t the same person the media portrays,” he shared. He asserted that no one deserves the level of hate Delvey has received since her casting was announced.

In the video, Sosa praised Delvey for her efforts on the show and expressed excitement about her growth, noting that he looks forward to showcasing her improvements in future performances. Delvey, who was seen wearing an ankle monitor, danced a cha-cha to “Espresso” by Sabrina Carpenter during the premiere, earning a score of 18 out of 30 from the judges.

Following Delvey’s performance, judge Carrie Ann Inaba addressed the audience, urging them to give her a chance despite their reservations about her past. Inaba highlighted Delvey’s dedication to rehearsals and her hard work, encouraging viewers to recognize her efforts.

Cheryl Burke, a longtime “DWTS” professional, echoed Inaba’s sentiments but acknowledged that some viewers might feel uncomfortable with Delvey’s participation. Burke also criticized the show's decision to have Delvey perform last, suggesting that it drained the energy of the event.

As the competition continues, Burke advised Delvey to embrace vulnerability if she hopes to advance. “Dancing With the Stars” will return with “Oscars Night” on Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.

This unfolding story highlights the complexities of public perception, personal growth, and the challenge of navigating fame under scrutiny.
